The Heidenhain LS 187 is an incremental sealed linear encoder with a large cross-section. The full-size scale housing features long measuring lengths, high ruggedness, and high vibration tolerance. The seal design provides optimal protection from debris and coolant, allowing this encoder to thrive even in the harshest environments.

 

The diagonal orientation of the sealing lips and the scanning unit's sword allows for the encoder to be mounted either upright or on its side. Because of their high accuracy and defined thermal behavior, the LS 100 series are especially well suited for use on numerically controlled machine tools.
